ACL’s Philosophy
At ACL, our business decisions are guided by our core values:
  • SAFETY Never compromise the safety of people, the environment, property or equipment.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE Provide superior customer service.
  • INNOVATION Set the standard in transportation and manufacturing solutions.
  • INTEGRITY Always do the right thing.
  • VALUE Let the creation of value drive all we do for shareholders and employees.
Corporate giving is no exception. We are committed to environmental stewardship and support of nonprofit organizations that protect our rivers, which are not only fundamental to our business, but crucial to the communities that surround them, the ecosystems they support, and our planet as a whole.

We are also committed to integrity – to always doing the right thing. And, we believe it’s the right thing to donate time and resources to programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of life within the communities where we work and live. We also believe it’s the right thing to support our employees in their individual acts of giving and service to benefit others.

ACL’s Corporate Giving Guidelines
ACL has a Corporate Giving Committee that thoughtfully evaluates each request for funding as it relates to our corporate giving philosophy.  ACL is committed to protecting river environments through our business practices and philanthropy and to supporting the communities where we work and live.

Eligibility
ACL awards grants to organizations that have been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as 501(c) charities and government institutions.

Our support is generally targeted to specific projects or programs that enhance the scope of services offered by an organization. Our contributions are seldom used to support operating costs or capital campaigns. Preference is also given to organizations with a broad base of funding and involvement by our employees.

Restrictions
Generally, ACL does not fund the following through corporate giving:
  • organizations that do not have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
  • individuals
  • religious organizations (exceptions may be made for projects that benefit a community)
  • political candidates or lobbying organizations
  • organizations with a limited constituency, such as fraternal, labor or veterans’ groups
  • endowments or foundations
  • travel by groups or individuals
  • national conferences
  • sponsorships or advertising
  • anti-business groups
  • team sponsorships or athletic scholarships
  • organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sexual orientation or gender
Application Procedures
Requests for funding or other corporate gifts must be submitted via our on-line Corporate Giving Request Form. Telephone solicitations will not be considered.

Applications are accepted as they are received and are reviewed in a timely manner.

Proposals funded any one time are not assured of future funding. If renewed funding is desired, an additional application must be submitted. In general, ACL does not fund multi-year requests.

Thank You

We appreciate your adherence to our corporate giving guidelines.
