Our fleet maximizes service and flexibility.

ACL’s vast barge and towboat fleets allow us to provide customers with maximum flexibility to meet schedule or delivery changes system wide.  Our operations are tailored to serve a wide range of shippers and freight types.

• Tank barges -- Our tank barge fleet transports a variety of chemicals, petroleum, ethanol, edible oils and other liquid commodities.  The entire fleet is comprised of double-hulled barges.  Tank barges within the fleet are designed to carry specific classes of cargoes.  This assures a safe and efficient fit between barge and cargo.
  
• Dry cargo barges – Our dry cargo barges transport a variety of bulk and non-bulk commodities; including grain, coal, steel, fertilizers, salt, ores, ferroalloys, gypsum, cement, containers and project cargo.  Our covered barge fleet, the largest in the industry, allows ACL to meet the needs of customers requiring covers to ship and protect their products, while retaining the flexibility to shift this substantial covered cargo capacity to open dry cargo barge capacity as customers might require.

ACL has the experience, expertise and equipment to provide safe handling of a broad universe of cargoes going to and from most points on the Inland Waterways. Following are just four examples of the specialized markets we serve:

Ethanol -- We have years of experience and a growing focus on the transportation of ethanol to developing Gulf Coast and East Coast markets.  It is a natural extension of our decades of experience in moving additives that are mixed with ethanol and other fuels.

Steel -- We are ideally positioned to deliver large volume movements of steel and offer our customers viable, economical alternatives to dealing with the congested rail conditions that exist today.  Be it finished steel, raw materials or both, we are well prepared to serve both ends of the domestic and international steel pipelines.

Coal -- The coal sourcing landscape is undergoing tremendous change, and no company can offer the combination of resources and experience that we do to get coal where it needs to be.

Project Cargo -- We are a leader in transporting project cargo – large oversized loads – dock to dock and door to door.  We have the fleet, equipment and transportation team to move oversized units efficiently and reliably.
